umm... good cow?
Well, I think Zeus thinks he's a cow. Don't get my wrong, nothing could make me prouder. He is afterall a Metcalf. So it would make sense that he would want to meet other calfs... but I wonder if he's gone a little far this time.
As some of you know, Lydia and I live next to a farmer. Great guy! Brings us fresh veggies and fruit, very friendly, has a couple cows. Yesterday, I took Zeus out on a walk and we stopped by his property. It just so happened that Ralph's cows were out, and they came right up to the fence where we were standing. At first Zeus was a little afraid of these animals, but after awhile he summoned up the courage to sniff their noses (this, I believe, is where the transformation begun). After he felt comfortable with them, he went inside the fence and kept sniffing and licking. But THEN, he started grazing. Maybe I haven't seen him eat grass before because our grass is dead, and kind of sharp, but he was standing their with the cows grazing!
After awhile, I took him back inside through the front door and sat down to go back to work. It wasn't long before I realized it was eerily quite in our house. I looked behind me and noticed the back door was open! So I sprung up out of my chair and ran outside to see where he had gone. Sure enough, he was back over with the cows. So I grabbed my camera this time and snapped a few shots. When it was time to say goodbye to our bovine friends, we walked back to our house, and on the way there heard Zeus' new friends start mooing in bereavement (or so I assume... I'm by no means a cow whisperer... not yet at least). Anyway, a little later on we went back outside and the first thing Zeus did was run over to see if the cows were out. They weren't, and I could tell he was a little disappointed. But did you really have to eat their poop, Zeus?! Ewww! Is your dog food really that bad? (Don't worry, I didn't take pictures of that. I just hopped over the fence, took him back to the house, and had him drink water. Lots and lots of water.)
