Our child the lime
Hello!
Sorry for the long delay in updates everybody. I just finished my finals this week and am greatly relieved to be done (at least for a couple weeks). I've had some requests to post some of my most recent work in animation and web design, but before I do that, I need to formally (as formal as blogging can get at least) announce that Lydia and I are pregnant! ESPECIALLY Lydia. :)
We found out just a couple months ago. It didn't come as much of a surprise because we had been trying for a couple weeks. The funny this is, it turns out little baby was actually conceived before we even started trying! Maybe Heavenly Father knew we were going to be trying so He just sped up the process for us or something. :)
So anyway, Lydia is now three months pregnant and the morning sickness phase is fading rapidly (which she's very grateful for). We had our first ultrasound about a month ago, and got to see our little child! He was then only the size of a kidney bean, but now he's a lime! That's my boy! Or is it my girl? We'll find that out in about five weeks. Which brings me to my next paragraph.
Any ideas for boy names? If it's a girl we will name her Kathryn and call her Kate. However, we haven't thought of too many boy names. I've always kind of liked Calvin and Miles. If we named him Miles though, his name would be Miles Michael Metcalf. Which would be awesome for entering your initials in at the arcade when you beat the high score! It's important to think ahead about these things.
So that's the big news! Enjoy this picture of our little lime (maybe we could name him "Lyman" after my dad :))

Yeah for babies! I am so excited. As soon as I find out (or you find out rather) what you are having--its time for a shopping spree & some quilt making.
Mike, you are quite a storyteller...I never read your updates without laughing! (Example - the "ESPECIALLY Lydia!" comment.) Well, I know I'm biased, but I think that's the cutest little lime (or bean) I've ever seen! I love him or her already! Mom
P.S. I love both Kathryn and Kate, and as a bonus - both sound great with Metcalf! It will be fun to see what you decide if he's a boy!
Love you. Get a nap. :)
CONGRATS Mike & Lydia! We are both so excited for you!
I am so happy for you Mike and Lydia. How did you tell Lydia you were pregnant, Mike? LOL!
I love the name Kate. If I had a girl, that name would have been snatched up already. As far as boys names go, I have a couple that were runner-ups to Brennan that I liked, but obviously did not get used.
Logan, Anson, Kieran, Collin, Ethan, Parker, and I really like Calvin too. Your lucky 'cuz Metcalf flows well with every name I can think of.
Names are pretty personal. Remember, your kid will have that name (for better or worse for the rest of their mortal life) so make it a good one! No pressure, right? :)
You mentioned my FAVORITE spelling of Kathryn--my friend from school used that spelling and I thought it was so beautiful.
Boy names are really hard. Good luck. SO so excited that you are having a baby!
