Oh boy oh boy! (or is it, "oh girl, oh girl?")
This coming Tuesday, at 11:00 AM, Lydia and I have our appointment with the doctor-ologist to find out what kind of monkey we made! We're kind of hoping for a girl, because we have a name picked out. ("Kathryn" named after my aunt, but we'd probably call her Kate). If it's a boy, we both had a few ideas, but I'm really starting to like one in particular. "Slagathor the destroyer!" Whaddya think?! I'm not sure if we can actually have an exclamation mark in his name on the record, but I'm pushing for one. I'd call him Slaggy for short.
If you think you have any better boy names (doubt it), let us know!

Slagathor is OK, but I love Kerrek.
Of course, Kerrek was smote by Trodor, so the name has some negative history. Overlooking that, it is a lovely name.
"And Trogdor smote the Kerrek and all was laid to burnination." That is some name to live up to...
SLAGATHOR! I love it.
Espaecially the sweet baby pic with "Slagathor" in fancy writing above.
I was wondering when you two crazy kids were going to post what flavor of monkey you are having. Good luck on Tuesday. Sometimes the little buggers are shy and won't open their legs....other times they are spread-eagle and "sitting" on the TV screen...depends on their personality, quietly modest or college-streaker.
All of my boys were the latter.
I have know this child's father all his life and am well aware that he enjoys a sense of humor that can border on the bizarre. So the fact that he came up with Slagathor as a possible name for his offspring really didn't surprise me. But I'm with Jenny! My dear boy, I must admit you GOT me with that picture! Even the idea of attaching a moniker like that to the picture of a sweet precious innocent baby struck this Mom's soul with sheer horror! (Okay, I admit it, after the initial shock wore off, I haven't quit laughing.) I can hardly wait for Tuesday! And now, for this baby's name's sake, I'll be praying for a girl!!!)
Kerrek! I don't know why I didn't think of that Sean. Actually, I really don't think being slain by Trogdor is a negative thing. I think of it more as glorious.
Jenny, I'm glad you're sold on the name. And yes, i really hope the slag will cooperate with us on Tuesday.
Mom, sorry, I promise once we have our baby we will use a much more tasteful moniker. Can you believe I forgot his title? "The destroyer" is such an important part of who he will be. We'll start with card towers and work our way up. ;)
I am sorry everyone, but we have dibs on Slagathor, even if we have a girl first!!! We do except bribes, but convincing us to give that one up will not come cheap.
We too, are VERY excited for Tuesday. Over the last couple of weeks it is just starting to feel "real" that we will be having a child. I have been longing for that "instant bond" some women talk about having when they find out they are pregnant. I really haven't had that, and even though I was sick and missing my period (well, missing is not the right word for that, but you get the idea) it really wasn't sinking in. I am starting to show, which helps, and I am looking forward to feeling movement. I will have Mike get a picture of my belly on the blog... or on my own blog. ;)
Edgar Slagathor is what I would have guessed. Man, I was way off. Good luck tomorrow (I will be going shopping as soon as you tell me blue or pink)and soon I hope to see your cute wife's blog up and running. Actually I can't wait to see little peanut.
Good luck, guys!! Can't wait to find out. I love Kathryn--gorgeous name, spoken and spelled. No comment on boy names (especially the ones mentioned in this blog entry--I feel like I am missing an inside joke or something!).
By the way, Mike, I LOVE the new look of your blog. Will you teach me how to do something like that on mine?
Mike, why have I never commented on your blog? Is it because I have been a bad uncle and not kept in touch as would be thoughtful and proper, or is it because of my guilt in never sending you a birthday card or well wishes since you were 5? OR is it simply just that I have an aversion to dog-vomit and feces stories? Who could know the truth? One thing I know is that I enjoy checking it out so you just need to keep on writin' baby, keep on writin'....
Brad
Lydia, can't wait to start reading your blog honey!
Emily, Edgar Slagathor certainly crossed our mines, but we didn't want to embarrass our child. Edgar? Come on.
Mindy, glad you like Kathryn. I'm sorry to hear you don't approve of Slagathor though. We have a friend of a friend who named their child "Theffany" can you imagine?! Everyone will think she has a lisp for the rest of her life. At least we're not going to name him "Thlagathor"
Unky Brad, thanks for the comment, regardless of the reason! I'll try to cut back on dog-vomit & feces, but no promises.
